The Importance of Stories
We are the story-telling species. Our culture was founded on stories: the myths and legends of the past retain a continuity with the mass media of today, as I write this, there is a new release movie with the Norse god Thor as the central figure. Computer games allow you to play your own role in a story. Every day's news is filled with people wanting a story, a narrative, a way of stringing events together to make sense of them.
Stories are what we use to turn random events into coherent, meaningful experiences. So in our minds we make ourselves the stars in our own movies, or we immerse ourselves in others' stories.
Keep an eye open, and you will see stories everywhere.
